As our Fraud Prevention Analyst, you will join our dedicated Seller Team. In this crucial role, you'll be instrumental in shaping and executing our fraud prevention strategy for merchants who process transactions through our platform.


What will I be doing?
  • Strategic Onboarding & Proactive Prevention: You'll play a key role in defining the criteria and processes for strategically onboarding new merchants, ensuring we welcome legitimate businesses while mitigating risk. You'll also be responsible for continuously monitoring the behavior of existing merchants, identifying suspicious patterns, and implementing robust measures to prevent fraud committed by sellers.
  • Data-Driven Enhancements: You'll collaborate closely with our Data Science team to improve existing features and develop new ones, including machine learning model rules. This involves setting appropriate thresholds for our transactional scoring systems. You'll also analyze new databases to enhance the quality and relevance of our available data, ensuring we have the best information to make accurate decisions.
  • Performance & Impact: You'll be directly responsible for the KPIs of our main merchant segments, ensuring our fraud prevention efforts are effective and contribute positively to business outcomes.
What skills do I need?
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Engineering, statistics, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in fraud prevention or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in handling large databases; SQL is a must.
  • Knowledge of Python or similar data-oriented languages like R is a plus.
  • Experience with data management tools such as AWS Sagemaker, Athena, or Quicksigh is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical skills and compassion for discovering new patterns and making data-driven decisions.
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, team player, and problem-solver.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

(15%) Direct efforts to ensure supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are stable and highly available, cost efficient, and at an appropriate level of technical maturity. Provide effective, flexible and secure BI solutions that support business strategy and operations.

  • Ensure all supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are working accurately and as expected, that process and technology documentation is complete and accurate, and that appropriate disaster recovery procedures are developed and maintained for relevance.
  • Manage departmental resources and systems to ensure Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded. Ensure that a proper control structure and escalation path is in place, and is being followed and monitored.
  • Enforce governance and provide stewardship for supported environments, reports, Dashboards and data models.
  • Perform pro-active and as requested audits or reviews. Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed.
  • Provide rapid corrective response and action to resolve disruptive incidents.
  • Ensure the communication of incident status to appropriate management, staff and user personnel.
  • Ensure the documentation of incident occurrence and resolution in the appropriate repositories.
  • Identify and recommend strategies to minimize risk(s) of incident recurrence.
  • Consult, mentor and direct other staff personnel as required for effective incident resolution.
  • Oversee the resolution of complex technical development and support issues.

(30%) Collect requirements from stakeholders and leverage knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, customer base, systems and data into solution designs for effective reporting.

  • Foster and sustain open communication with business users and stakeholders.
  • Provide training to stakeholder.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of the business operations and strategic imperatives of Assurant through the periodic review of business goals and operational and strategic plans.
  • Assist business customers by advising them on defining systems requirements.
  • Work closely with business units to provide direction in addressing business systems challenges and new opportunities.
  • Assist in requirements analysis and solution design for approved projects and change requests of the highest complexity.
  • Prepare and contribute toward the preparation of project and product vision documentation.

(40%) Implement and optimize visualization, dashboarding, reporting, process and analytical solution through standardization and automation by leveraging tools and proven methodology while using storytelling to drive business thinking.

  • Analyze existing solutions and optimize them based on latest best practices, tools, techniques and policies.
  • Implement scalable standardized reports and self-service solutions to reduce the overall amount on reports and time spent on creating and maintaining reports.
  • Test results and apply best practices on quality assurance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, to execute fast and to assure a the right training and hand-over effort to the stakeholders.
  • Ensure that provided timelines and business needs are met.
  • Proactively identify and design optimization opportunities to add value through holistic & advanced business insights and leverage Data Analytic capabilities and products efficiently with appropriate controls.

Job qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
  • Broad knowledge in visualization techniques, Knowledge in visual storytelling with data, designing highly automated descriptive analytics/reporting solutions, building, integrating and managing databases, creating data models, especially within the PowerBI stack, understanding of business needs and processes.

(10%) Ensure change management and quality assurance practices are understood, adhered to, and leveraged to enhance system health and quality.

  • Understand methodology, standards, policies and procedures and ensure that teams are complying with established standards.
  • Design/develop solutions to business and technical requirements.

  • Provide project management services, providing budget and resource allocation and forecasting, financial tracking of resources, hours, and expenditures for teams, department, or projects, as needed.
  • Implement systems development methodologies and enforce compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in the coordination of user efforts required for project implementation.
  • Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed. Provide management reporting of status and relevant issues related to projects, personnel, etc.
  • Coordinate work activities across Data Analytics, Data Services, information technology departments, business, functional areas, and project teams.
  • Function as the lead BI and data modeler on highly complex or sensitive development projects for the department, division, or enterprise.
  • Work closely with the internal and external business clients to develop technology solutions that provide Assurant a competitive advantage.

(15%) Direct efforts to ensure supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are stable and highly available, cost efficient, and at an appropriate level of technical maturity. Provide effective, flexible and secure BI solutions that support business strategy and operations.

  • Ensure all supported BI environments, Reports, Dashboards and Data Models are working accurately and as expected, that process and technology documentation is complete and accurate, and that appropriate disaster recovery procedures are developed and maintained for relevance.
  • Manage departmental resources and systems to ensure Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded. Ensure that a proper control structure and escalation path is in place, and is being followed and monitored.
  • Enforce governance and provide stewardship for supported environments, reports, Dashboards and data models.
  • Perform pro-active and as requested audits or reviews. Communicate issues and progress to management and customers as needed.
  • Provide rapid corrective response and action to resolve disruptive incidents.
  • Ensure the communication of incident status to appropriate management, staff and user personnel.
  • Ensure the documentation of incident occurrence and resolution in the appropriate repositories.
  • Identify and recommend strategies to minimize risk(s) of incident recurrence.
  • Consult, mentor and direct other staff personnel as required for effective incident resolution.
  • Oversee the resolution of complex technical development and support issues.
  • Coordinate the application of program enhancements (resolutions) with the applications and technical staffs and follow through to ensure customer satisfaction and SLA compliance.
  • Collaborate with other IT departments/disciplines to ensure that changes to the BI, ETL and warehouse environments are instituted at an appropriate level of quality, cost, and architectural consistency.

(30%) Collect requirements from stakeholders and leverage knowledge of the key components and relationships of Assurant products, distribution channels, customer base, systems and data into solution designs for effective reporting.

  • Foster and sustain open communication with business users and stakeholders.
  • Provide training to stakeholder.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of the business operations and strategic imperatives of Assurant through the periodic review of business goals and operational and strategic plans.
  • Assist business customers by advising them on defining systems requirements.
  • Work closely with business units to provide direction in addressing business systems challenges and new opportunities.
  • Assist in requirements analysis and solution design for approved projects and change requests of the highest complexity.
  • Prepare and contribute toward the preparation of project and product vision documentation.

(40%) Implement and optimize visualization, dashboarding, reporting, process and analytical solution through standardization and automation by leveraging tools and proven methodology while using storytelling to drive business thinking.

  • Analyze existing solutions and optimize them based on latest best practices, tools, techniques and policies.
  • Implement scalable standardized reports and self-service solutions to reduce the overall amount on reports and time spent on creating and maintaining reports.
  • Test results and apply best practices on quality assurance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, to execute fast and to assure a the right training and hand-over effort to the stakeholders.
  • Ensure that provided timelines and business needs are met.
  • Proactively identify and design optimization opportunities to add value through holistic & advanced business insights and leverage Data Analytic capabilities and products efficiently with appropriate controls.

Job qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
  • Broad knowledge in visualization techniques, Knowledge in visual storytelling with data, designing highly automated descriptive analytics/reporting solutions, building, integrating and managing databases, creating data models, especially within the PowerBI stack, understanding of business needs and processes.
  • Knowledge of PowerBI, Excel, SSRS and Tableau, SharePoint, PowerApps, MSFlow, SQL and/or SAS.

Knowledge in effective and compelling communication to technical and non-technical departments.

What’s the opportunity?

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Business Intelligence team, with a strong focus on data pipelines, predictive analytics and dashboarding.

The ideal candidate will join a team that takes full responsibility for designing, developing and maintaining the Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics platform: from designing ETLs and scalable data models to applying advanced statistical and machine learning methods, and building interactive dashboards that drive decision-making across the company.

What will I be doing?

  • Implement and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data quality, consistency and scalability across the BI and Advanced Analytics platforms
  • Detect and correct errors in our BI Platform and processes in order to guarantee reliability
  • Translate business requirements into predictive models, dashboards, simulations, and analytical frameworks
  • Design and implement forecasting solutions (time series, ML-based predictors) to anticipate trends in payment volumes, revenues, and customer behavior
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models into production pipelines
  • Hands-on analysis, design and development of interactive dashboards and data visualizations that combine descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive insights
  • Build automated reporting and alerting solutions, integrating predictive and real-time metrics
  • Ensure timeliness, resilience, availability and accessibility of data
  • Maintain and extend documentation of BI & ML architecture, processes, and procedures
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, forecasting techniques, visualization best practices, and ML frameworks
  • Contribute to the definition of standards and best practices for data science, analytics engineering, and dashboarding
  • Work closely with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Product teams to deliver robust predictive and visualization solutions

What skills do I need?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering / Data Science
  • Strong expertise in SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and cloud data platforms (AWS / GCP: EMR, Lambda, EC2, S3, Athena, Redshift)
  • Experience with forecasting techniques (ARIMA, Prophet, exponential smoothing, machine learning regressors, deep learning models)
  • Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Statsmodels, PyTorch/TensorFlow is a plus)
  • Familiarity with Spark for large-scale data processing
  • Experience with Airflow, DBT, DataHub, Github
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, feature engineering, and predictive analytics
  • Proven experience building dashboards and data visualizations (Looker, Power BI, Tableau or similar), with ability to translate data into actionable insights and compelling stories
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a holistic approach to business and data
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Ability to translate complex user requirements into technical, predictive, and visualization solutions
  • Curious mindset, ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams
