Details of the Role

The Day to Day

• Work with product designers, other developers, and stakeholders to create user-friendly experiences
• Maintain up-to-date documentation, usage guidelines, and component libraries, supporting designers and other developers in adopting and implementing the system effectively
• Assist in leading or developing on different projects, ensuring successful execution from planning to deployment.
• Communicate technical feasibility and alternative solutions when roadblocks are discovered to clients and internal team members
• Write high-quality, clean, efficient, performant, and well documented code to create reusable and modular components
• Integrate and manage content through variety of CMS, ensuring seamless delivery across the application
• Balance constraints, limiting short-term workarounds, while focusing on future extensions

Qualifications

• Highly experienced using JS Frameworks (React, Typescript, Gatsby.js, Next.js, etc.)
• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
• Strong understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
• Proficient understanding of NodeJs
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GIT
• An excellent ability to convert Figma/Sketch mockups into interactive digital experiences while taking performance and accessibility into consideration

Sandbar

Sandbar's mission is to improve the health of the global financial system by fighting money laundering and other financial crimes.

By law, financial institutions must monitor transactions for illicit activity. However, most institutions find it difficult to do so effectively. Roughly 6T is laundered every year and 180B is spent on anti-money-laundering efforts by US institutions. Despite this, less than 1% of laundered money is identified correctly. We are also seeing many systems produce false-positive rates of over 95%. Consequently, banks and the government must spend extra time and resources on extraneous investigations, taking away resources from finding criminals.

Product

To achieve our goal, we ingest and standardize millions of messy data points coming from financial institutions that may sign up for the service. Once we have standardized and ingested the data, we can run complex calculations on it, checking for suspicious behavior and building a score around the riskiness of a given profile. If anything is found, we can surface that to our clients. By providing information accessibility, building intuitive workflows, allowing for custom processing, and curating accurate data, we can reduce the false-positive rate of our calculations, and reduce the amount of work dedicated to a given investigation.

We are looking for engineers who are excited about building a company from the ground up. As a founding engineer at Sandbar, you'll be responsible for defining and building features in our product to enable our customers to model and detect suspicious activity on their platforms. You'll work cross-functionally, collaborating with members of the team who have expertise in the subject matter, product management, design, infrastructure and security, to solve real-world problems our customers face. Actualmente nos encontramos en búsqueda de Backend Engineers / Data Engineers para sumarse a nuestro equipo de tecnología.

• Diseñar, construir y escalar aplicaciones y pipelines que procesan grandes volúmenes de datos.
• Participar en decisiones de arquitectura técnica con foco en escalabilidad, resiliencia y eficiencia de costos.
• Ser owner de las soluciones que desarrolles, desde su diseño hasta su operación en producción.
• Implementar y optimizar servicios distribuidos usando tecnologías como Apache Kafka, Cassandra, Spark, Flink, entre otros.
• Escribir código backend limpio, eficiente y mantenible, siguiendo buenas prácticas de ingeniería de software.
• Participar activamente en revisiones de código, promoviendo la mejora continua en el equipo.
• Monitorear el estado de salud de las aplicaciones y pipelines, asegurando su disponibilidad y performance.
• Trabajar en estrecha colaboración con equipos de datos, producto y frontend para ofrecer soluciones integradas.

• +5 años de experiencia desarrollando soluciones backend escalables.
• Experiencia comprobada trabajando con aplicaciones de alto volumen de datos.
• Conocimientos sólidos en arquitecturas distribuidas, mensajería y almacenamiento como Kafka y Cassandra.
• Experiencia práctica con motores de procesamiento distribuido como Apache Spark, Apache Flink o similares.
• Buen entendimiento de estructuras de datos, algoritmos y optimización de recursos.

• Experiencia en desarrollo frontend (Angular, React u otras tecnologías modernas).
• Familiaridad con contenedores y herramientas como Docker.
• Conocimientos en bases de datos y soluciones cloud.

How will you contribute to our magical experience?:

The Software Engineer will join the System Engineering & Integration team within Disney's Media Engineering organization to help build a platform that enhances testing and integration workflows for adjacent development teams. This platform will focus on automated data validation and ensuring integration quality prior to production deployments, with an emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.

The role involves building backend applications primarily in Java and/or Python, working with cloud technologies (AWS), and implementing automated workflows using orchestration tools like Temporal. The engineer will contribute to resilient backend systems, optimize data processing flows, and ensure high standards in system observability and dependability.

As part of a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, the Software Engineer will engage in the full software development lifecycle—from design and implementation to deployment. This position is ideal for self-starters who enjoy technical challenges and are eager to grow their skills while working collaboratively across disciplines.

The Software Engineer will be responsible for:

• Design and develop backend applications in Java and/or Python to support integration testing platforms.
• Build scalable, dependable, and high-performance systems for metadata validation across Disney media platforms.
• Apply cloud services (primarily AWS) to create and maintain resilient infrastructure.
• Collaborate with backend development teams to improve code quality through unit testing, automation, and code reviews.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
• Identify gaps in test coverage and help prioritize roadmap items with project managers.
• Leverage technologies like Temporal, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Datadog to support automation and observability.

What we need from you to be part of this story:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Python.
• Experience building cloud-based applications using AWS.
• Advanced level of English.
• Familiarity with Temporal, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Datadog.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to take on new challenges.
• Experience in the media streaming industry (is a plus).

This team is responsible for the combined status aggregation across the supply chain ecosystem, combining data from the media and metadata processing pipelines. This team is also responsible for QC state tracking and auditing as well as the search platform for the content supply chain.

The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for :

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for performing analysis and building applications ensuring a successful operator experience for delivering content to end users.

• Design and build robust software applications, utilizing software engineering and machine learning expertise to deliver high performance solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering, to identify opportunities, business impact and technical requirements.

• Act in people supervisory capacity and serve as a technical leader, setting best practices and leading architectural discussions within the team.

• Mentor, empower, and provide career growth opportunities for team members .

• Prioritize tasks within a project to deliver high value initiatives, while anticipating and mitigating potential risk wherever possible.

• Create and manage key engineering health KPIs through regular monitoring in a scalable way as systems and products expand.

What we need from you to be part of this story:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience

• Proficiency in backend development using one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience

• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience with Git source control

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes

• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal

• Advanced level of English.

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth, or startup environments

• Experience with Scala or functional programming, AWS/cloud infrastructure, media player integration, and messaging systems like Kafka or SQS (Preferred)

• Familiarity with web accessibility, modern web standards, asynchronous programming (e.g., promises, async/await), and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker (Preferred)
