What you will do
- Cloud Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting ExxonMobil's Azure platform.
- Strong architecture and coding skills are desired in order understand the cloud environment, develop scripts, and code automated deployment of resources (PaaS, IaaS, network) in Azure.
- Engineer will develop, automate, and implement platform solutions related to our core Azure environment.
- This includes subscriptions, resource groups, management groups, and the Azure logic app to name a few. This role allows for direct collaboration with internal and external parties (especially Microsoft) to help design and implement the Azure platform environment.
- Software development experience desired, ideally with the following technologies: PowerShell, Python, JavaScript (Single-page app development ideal – Angular or React), and Azure functionality like the logic app.
- Behavioral characteristics include: analytical mindset, self-starting, strong collaboration with others, customer focus, and initiative to drive a problem to a solution. Experience working in agile teams and using Azure DevOps for both managing work and deploying via pipelines is a bonus. As the number of applications moving to Azure increases, the cloud engineer will also need to provide base support for the Azure platform environment (troubleshooting issues, assisting customers with problems, etc).
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computing Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar.
- Advanced English skills, verbal and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Understanding of Azure Management Groups, Subscriptions, Resource Groups and common Resources
- Experience with PowerShell coding and execution
- Experience using GIT/Azure Dev Ops and deploying via CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working in Agile teams, using Dev Ops practices
- Software development experience, ideally with the following technologies: PowerShell,, JavaScript / TerraForm
- Experience in analysis, design and development of .Net Web Experiences (MVC, JavaScript, REST, OData)
- Infrastructure experience, ideally with the following: network engineering/operations, Windows/Linux server and/or VMs, SCCM, infrastructure integration, infrastructure security
- Experience in building highly scalable and reliable Azure cloud services leveraging App Services, Service Bus, Azure SQL DB, Azure API Management and other PAAS components.

- Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
- Planning projects and being involved in project management decisions.
- Mentor and act as a technical role model for junior resources.
- Ensure complete issue tracking and reporting are maintained.
- Ensure code compliance and versioning using the Company’s dedicated source code management solution.
- Provide guidance with technical design.
- Work with Business Analysts, QA Analysts, Process Owners, and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business-impacting projects.
- Work directly with stakeholders to capture business requirements and translate them into technical approaches and designs that comply with the client’s technical requirements.
- Collaborate with development team members to ensure proper implementation and integration of the solutions.
- Support deployments or troubleshoot production issues outside of work hours and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
- Assist with the implementation of new software enhancements, system processes, and/or 3rd party products within the software applications ecosystem.
- Maintain appropriate software on server and client development computers.
- Maintain proper documentation throughout the software development lifecycle of assigned projects.
- Participates in the creation of the supported software and hardware lists.
- Accountable for adherence to IT dept. standards, including proper design, project documentation, coding standards, and approval processes.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to local and remote users’ concerns relating to applications.
- Must provide excellent customer service through end-user training and SOX documentation.
- Participate in design and development of physical and logical application frameworks that are extensible, stable, and re-usable.
- Ensures Sarbanes Oxley compliance on all initiatives.
- Maintains sign-off documentation and other SDLC methodology documentation as required.

About the roleThe Azure Data Engineer plays a key role in developing and maintaining reliable, scalable data solutions that support accurate reporting, informed decision-making, and business process improvement. The role ensures the effective use of data platforms and cloud technologies to meet organisational goals and enhance data-driven capabilities.
This full-time, permanent position can be based at either our Abbotsford - Vic, Bella Vista or Tweed Heads - NSW sites.
The key aspects of this role will include:

You are a technically skilled, proactive professional who is passionate about using data to make a difference in people’s lives.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a data engineering or advanced SQL development role
- Strong SQL Development and Optimisation Skills : Proven ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimise complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Hands-on Experience with Azure Data Tools: Practical experience using Azure Data Factory , Azure SQL , and Azure Synapse for data integration and pipeline development.
- ETL/Data Pipeline Development Expertise: Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and optimise scalable ETL/ELT processes across diverse data sources.
Highly regarded skills include:
- Experience with Power BI: Familiarity with building datasets and supporting report development using Power BI.
- Knowledge of Payment/Reconciliation File Structures (e.g., DEX): Experience working with financial data, particularly generating or processing DEX or similar files.
- Understanding of the Aged Care or Community Services Sector: Awareness of sector-specific data needs, compliance requirements, or service models.
- Candidates will be required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related field.
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification or equivalent experience are advantageous.
