Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for system architecture, ensuring seamless communication between all robotics services and cloud systems. You will leverage your deep expertise in software and system architecture to drive innovation and solve complex challenges.
Duties will include developing user interfaces, databases, ROS services, communication with edge-devices and cloud services, as well as leading the technical roadmap for the system architecture aligned with our vision and Product Roadmap.A successful candidate is strongly motivated and passionate about solving software and system architecture problems and pushing the boundaries of what is possible today, and will be an entrepreneurial, mission-driven individual responsible for actively progressing, developing, and executing the technical roadmap of our solar module installation robotic system.
This individual will take on the responsibility of defining, designing, and implementing the software architecture and guide the Robotics, Vision and Hardware Engineers to identify the best way to make all the systems communicate with the Maximo ecosystem. In addition, this person will take ownership of developing and maintaining Maximo computers, network, and cloud connectivity, deploying changes, and monitoring their performance, collaborating closely with the Engineer Team to ensure seamless integration of improvements into our applications.
As a specialist in the Maximo business, this position will work collaboratively across the Maximo, external industry partners across the value chain, and AES teams, including engineering, business development, field operations, commercial and strategy.
Major Responsibilities
Design and implement system architecture to ensure seamless communication between various components, including robotics, vision systems, databases, GUI, battery management, and cloud services.
Propose and implement the best deployment strategies for our software, evaluating options such as Docker, C++, and Python.
Propose and implement the best solution for remote support.
Ensure all code repositories have proper validation, testing, and approvals in place.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Robotics Engineers, Control Engineers, AI and Vision Specialists to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in software engineering, system architecture, and deployment strategies to drive innovation and improve product performance.
Design, implement, and maintain cloud services, connectivity, and data logs.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in software engineering, system architecture, deployment strategies, and robotics systems.
Strong theoretical foundation in software engineering principles and system architecture.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, ROS2, SQL, and non-SQL databases.
Advanced oral and written English proficiency.
Experience with containerization and deployment tools such as Docker.
Experience with real-time systems and embedded platforms.
Knowledge of robotics platforms and sensor systems.
Entrepreneurial passion for getting things done and a “make it happen” attitude with an intellectual curiosity to seek new opportunities.
Capability to work dynamically and collaboratively across multiple teams in a fast-paced and technical business environment with minimal supervision.Excellent communication skills.

How will you contribute to our magical experience?:
The Software Engineer will join the System Engineering & Integration team within Disney's Media Engineering organization to help build a platform that enhances testing and integration workflows for adjacent development teams. This platform will focus on automated data validation and ensuring integration quality prior to production deployments, with an emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.
The role involves building backend applications primarily in Java and/or Python, working with cloud technologies (AWS), and implementing automated workflows using orchestration tools like Temporal. The engineer will contribute to resilient backend systems, optimize data processing flows, and ensure high standards in system observability and dependability.
As part of a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, the Software Engineer will engage in the full software development lifecycle—from design and implementation to deployment. This position is ideal for self-starters who enjoy technical challenges and are eager to grow their skills while working collaboratively across disciplines.
The Software Engineer will be responsible for:
- Design and develop backend applications in Java and/or Python to support integration testing platforms.
- Build scalable, dependable, and high-performance systems for metadata validation across Disney media platforms.
- Apply cloud services (primarily AWS) to create and maintain resilient infrastructure.
- Collaborate with backend development teams to improve code quality through unit testing, automation, and code reviews.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
- Identify gaps in test coverage and help prioritize roadmap items with project managers.
- Leverage technologies like Temporal, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Datadog to support automation and observability.
What we need from you to be part of this story:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python.
- Experience building cloud-based applications using AWS.
- Advanced level of English.
- Familiarity with Temporal, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Datadog.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to take on new challenges.
- Experience in the media streaming industry (is a plus).

We’re looking for our next Software Engineer. Could it be you?
The Software Engineer will be involved in the development of functionally rich, robust and user-friendly mobile applications, following through all stages of the Agile software development life cycle from inception to implementation. The developer will collaborate on a cross-functional team including UX Design, QA and other engineers in the implementation of core back-end services, and the growth of best practices and technological advancements. The ideal candidate for this role should be able to thrive in dynamic environments, have a strong work ethic, positive energy and the ability to innovate.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing, automating tests, debugging back-end services and mobile apps
- Reviewing peer code to ensure quality and correctness of solutions
- Enhancing and modifying existing applications as needed to ensure add new features or improve user-experience
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with existing applications
- Interacting with designers, developers, QA testers, copywriters, product owners and others in order to understand requirements and scope of work
- Has expertise working on and supporting a complex infrastructure environment
- Playing active role in defining and implementing best practices, standards and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies
- Helping the team to estimate work efforts for user stories, including determining requirements, dependencies and risks
- Conducting research and developing proof of concepts
- Participating in and contribute to all Agile Scrum ceremonies
- Collecting system performance and metrics to enable monitoring and operation
- Designing and architecting components on solution level and system APIs
- Assist with the hiring of new members joining engineering teams

- Experience with relational and object-oriented databases, and how to consume, manipulate and optimize applications that deal with large datasets
- Experience with unit testing (xUnit, nUnit, Jasmine, Jest or similar)
- Experience with OIDC and OAuth2 standards and how to implement them
- Experience integrating services with third-party vendors
- Experience with real-time communication (Sockets, Firebase, gRPC)
- Knowledge of Agile (SCRUM/Kanban) development practices
- Experience with Angular, Node.js and Express is a plus
