• Diseñar y mantener la arquitectura técnica de soluciones escalables y seguras.
• Acompañar a múltiples equipos de desarrollo y coordinar esfuerzos con la estrategia tecnológica.
• Definir e implementar estándares de calidad técnica, incluyendo buenas prácticas de codificación, pruebas y documentación.
• Supervisar y mentorizar a Tech Leads y desarrolladores senior.
• Proponer nuevas tecnologías, frameworks y patrones arquitectónicos que aporten valor.
• Colaborar con Product Managers, Marketing, Customer Success y otras áreas clave.
• Participar en actividades de preventa técnica (RFPs, propuestas, demos).

• Título universitario en Ingeniería en Sistemas, Informática o carreras afines (posgrado deseable).
• Más de 8 años de experiencia en desarrollo de software, incluyendo al menos 3 años en roles de liderazgo técnico o arquitectura.
• Dominio de principios de diseño de software, patrones arquitectónicos y metodologías ágiles.
• Experiencia liderando proyectos tecnológicos multidisciplinarios de mediana y gran envergadura.
• Sólidas habilidades en documentación técnica, estimación de recursos y planificación técnica.
• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación para interactuar con equipos técnicos y áreas de negocio.
• Conocimiento actualizado de lenguajes de programación, frameworks, tendencias de la industria y plataformas tecnológicas.
• Experiencia en entornos cloud (preferentemente Azure), microservicios, CI/CD y arquitecturas distribuidas.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our fully remote team based in Argentina. You will lead the design and development of scalable Java-based payment systems in a high-transaction environment. This is a key role in shaping OKTO’s next-generation payment platform, with strong growth potential and global impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and architecture of complex distributed systems that handle real-time financial transactions at scale.
• Spearheading the integration of payment gateways, banks, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
• Taking a lead role in our transition to a microservices-based architecture for payments.
• Creating and maintaining high-quality, optimized code with robust unit tests and appropriate test coverage.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior developers, and guiding the team in best practices and efficient coding techniques.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver highly scalable, performant solutions.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborating with DevOps to optimize CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring strategies for production systems.

• Excellent academic background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience (7+ years) in backend software development, with at least 3 years leading teams and architecting payment systems.
• Strong understanding of payment flows, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud detection mechanisms.
• Deep knowledge of Java 11+, Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
• Hands-on experience with transaction management, database tuning (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL stores), and high-availability strategies.
• Extensive experience with Event-Driven Software Design Patterns and complex systems architecture.
• Expertise in microservices architecture, specifically with Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud (Netflix OSS), OAuth2 Security, and JPA ORM.
• Expertise in designing secure RESTful APIs and working with OAuth2, JWT, and SSO mechanisms.
